The beef brisket was cubed up and deliciously tender. The online menu said that it’s served with a traditional gravy but I didn’t notice a gravy .
And it’s not that I didn’t try to flag her down either. Take my advice, skip the fruit salad as it was very basic with just a mix of chunks of apple, strawberry, and orange slices. To be fair, the breakfast was actually quite good. You get pimento cheese buttermilk biscuits topped with eggs along with hash browns, pit beans, and bacon. It would have been nice if they asked how I wanted my eggs prepared but the over-easy eggs turned out nicely with a runny yolk on the inside. The pit beans were really good and had a bold and smokey flavour.

When it did finally arrive to my table, I was quite pleased. The fried chicken comes with 2 pieces of bone-in leg and thigh perched on top of soft buttermilk biscuits. The freshly fried chicken had a nice, crispy skin and, overall, I thought this was a good dish with the slight tartness of the pickled radish and the savory gravy… can’t go wrong with gravy.

As I’ve probably mentioned previously, I’ve had slow/sketchy service here in the past and, unfortunately, today was not going to be any different. It took 15 minutes just to take my order – but this was because she kept taking the orders for people who came in after me. Seriously… someone came in after me, had their order taken, and their food delivered to their table before she came back to take my order.
I came to your shop at 11am for the Brisket Sandwich and it wasn't ready yet. Why is that?
It was inedible but the waitress never came to the table for a quality check so I was unable to request it be replaced. Then my husband got his brisket hash and the eggs were way overcooked and again, no quality check. My son-in-law never even got his meal. I ended up going down the street to McDonald's because I was so hungry.

This year, however, he topped the bill during the first night of the two-day festival, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2022, at The Glass House in Pomona on Dec. 17. Service can be slow, especially when it's busy, but it's a lovely place to relax and enjoy some nice food or a hot drink. I've been to Highlight quite a few times and have generally enjoyed myself. Some favourites are the breakfast sandwiches , the bennies and the grilled veggie wrap. The latte I had was nice and they serve Irish Breakfast tea from Great Wall...
Location
We had the brisket hash served on a sizzling hot plate; and a pulled pork sandwich served on a ciabatta bun. If you`re living uptown New West we would certainly recommend this cafe. BBQ is a lengthy process, and sometimes, even though you do exactly the same thing to the same cuts of meat every day, they take longer to cook. Most importantly, the best BBQ is fresh out of the smoker, right when the meat is done. This is difficult to achieve when a restaurant is open 10 hours a day, 7 days per week. We don’t want to smoke so much meat each day that we have to re-heat it the next day or just throw it out.
My companion chose a grilled vegetable sandwich. Although very good, it was difficult to eat, a bit on the sloppy side. One major complaint...our orders arrived about ten minutes apart. This happens quite often in a number of restaurants and is annoying. A fault of the kitchen and I hope it will be corrected.

I figured I should come back and give them another try to see if the issue with the over-cooked poached eggs was just a one-off so the next time I visited, I tried their Beef Brisket Hash ($14.95).

The only negative was the restaurant itself.

Being in the business for 35 years, a situation can always be fixed through understanding, patience, and humor. We will never, EVER darken the doorway of this establishment again. We were there around lunch time, not too busy. Chicken and waffles is a favourite of mine but not chicken fingers and waffles as served in most places. I was very happy with two pieces of non greasy, crispy chicken and fluffy biscuits.
Service, such as it was, was pleasant. There are several things I'd like to try but I'd go back for the chicken, alone. Two pieces of Re-Up fried chicken on a toasted buttermilk biscuit with your choice of sauce. The tiny food cart was hit by a bus in 2013 (Rest in Peace, Agnes!); however, the Re-Up team still supplies the Lower Mainland with BBQ made at the restaurant and delivered hot to catered events. In 2018 after much anticipation and preparation, the Re-Up team launched our newest chapter in this exciting history by opening up Highlight Cafe.
On the other end, screw the nuts in far enough so that both eyelet shanks will enter the loops of the spring on your washing machine retainer. Grab a couple of steel screw in hooks or eyelets. Home made Washing Machine door seal retainer Spring Expander
Take a spanner and begin adjusting one pair of nuts towards the other end of the rod, turning each nut in turn to keep the shank close to straight. The spring will expand as you go and eventually will be wide enough to fit over your washing machine door seal. Leave one pair near the end of the rod and tighten the nuts up against the eyelet.
With the retainer in place and the door seal fitted properly all around, loosen the same pair of bolts off until the tool is freed from the spring. Grab 4 nuts to suit the threaded rod , and fit 2 at one end of the rod with your eyelet sandwiched in the middle, and the other 2 with the second eyelet on the other end. To use the tool, simply move one of the eyelets in far enough on the rod so that both shanks will enter into the spring loops on the retainer. I found a spring hook tool with a T handle that should work well. I have a dozen spring tools which are just trampoline tools in different lengths so my arms or feet are in the right position to allow an easy pull. I used a 9/16 spanner and 2 cable ties to pull the spring apart toward each end of the spanner.
